Tunnels

Space within the Netherlands is limited and must be used efficiently. A possibility to achieve this is by using tunnels within the infrastructure. Arthe has extensive experience in the design of immersed and bored / drilled tunnels, both in the field of feasibility studies up to detailed design.

Functional design

We examine in consultation with you a functional design of the tunnel. What functions should the tunnel fulfill? What are the most suitable places of these functions? What is the space requirement of these functions? Arthe will integrally take care of these aspects.

Structural Design

The tunnel must be structurally safe. What does the subsoil look like? What is the groundwater level? What are the dimensions you should take into account? Arthe can handle the structural design for you in its entirety. We make an inventory of the entire soil conditions to find out the most suitable (location of the) tunnel.

Safety

More requirements are imposed on tunnel safety. Should escape provisions be made as cross passages? What about the fire resistance of the tunnel? Does the tunnel have to be earthquake resistant? What is the tunnel’s influence on its surrounding? Can damage occur to buildings? Arthe has the knowledge and methods to make good predictions about this.

Realization

The tunnel can be realized in various ways. Arthe can help you determine the implementation method and how this will affect the surrounding and the construction itself.
