Roads

Roads

The highest population density in the Netherlands can be found in the Randstad. This has resulted in a high density of roads in and around this part of the country. This highly urbanized area also results in a large number of objects on surface level and in the subsurface, which means that the existing space in the subsurface must be used in a creative manner. And due to the fact that the subsoil in the west of the Netherlands mainly consists of thick layers of soft clay and peat, resolving a motorway congestion problem or upgrading existing roads is an extra challenging affair. In addition, clients such as Rijkswaterstaat, Provinces and Municipalities are increasingly demanding that a project should be completed in the shortest possible time with the least hindrance to the environment.

Engineering in a subsurface of weak soils, together with a high density of existing objects above and below the ground surface, in the shortest possible time requires flexible, visionary designers who can draw on a wealth of experience.

  • Arthe Civil & Structure is proud to have been involved in a wide range of complex and a large number of road construction projects, both highways and motorways. We have also been involved in various phases at these projects: from feasibility studies, engineering, to supervision of the implementation.
  • Arthe Civil & Structure has the vision that our engineering can always be improved and more efficient: the current zeitgeist requires a different way of designing than 10 or 20 years ago. Because our company culture is open en transparent, we are able to respond rapidly to these changes. As a result, Arthe always delivers state of the art geotechnical designs.

Arthe Civil & Structure has the philosophy that the subsurface should always be approached by means of an engineering geological model. From the start of the design process it should be understood how the subsurface has been deposited. This allows our soil models to be of high quality and reliability.
